Graduation! and Dad returns to the homeland

...they grow up so fast :(
last week was graduation from junior high. It was sad to see some of my favorite students go, the ones who actually want to speak English with me, and it was hard to watch them say goodbye to each other as some will head to different high schools next year, and it was damn uncomfortable to wear a suit, but overall it was a really happy day. I mean i didn`t understand the ceremony at all (and i may have fallen asleep) but it was def a big deal for everyone involved.

then there was the afterparty, where my favorite teachers turned into college fraternity boys and the sloppy-ness was in full effect...

pops came to visit ... a while ago. it was so good to see him (and his very large bag of USA goodies for me). we fully embraced inaka (countryside) japan as we went to onsens, ate fresh mochi, ate at an obasan`s house where she served only food that she had grown herself, and confronted a blizzard in boots and snowpants.
